Adding Property Attributes

How to add property attributes to your communities in analytics (e.g. regional manager, housing type, lease-up status)

Knock has what we call “Attributes”, which are logical groupings of properties based on a given characteristic, or attribute. Once created, these attributes will be visible to all users.

Below are some example Attributes, with example Attribute Values:

  • Metro area: e.g. New York City, Chicago, Seattle

  • State: e.g. NY, IL, WA

  • Regional/portfolio manager: e.g. Megan, Jamie, Rachel

  • Property type: e.g. Student Housing, Low income, Lease-up

  • Ownership: e.g. ABC Capital, XYZ Equity Partners

In order to setup your attributes and attribute values, go to Admin > Attributes. On this page, you will want to first setup your various Attributes. To create a new attribute, click the + Attribute link:

Then input the title for your attribute type. Note this is the attribute type not the attribute value, so an example would be "Regional Manager", not "Joe Smith". Once you've added your attribute type, click Add Attribute Type:

Then you will see a new column on the page with the attribute type you just added. To add an Attribute to a particular property, click New under the corresponding Attribute Type column and property row:

Now input the Attribute for this particular attribute type/property, and click Add Attribute:

You will now see that Attribute as a blue tag on the page:

Rinse and repeat! You can continue to do this for all your attributes for all your properties. 😊
